The 2022 BCC is almost here!

The 2022 WAC BCC Co-chairs, along with a number of instructors, are putting some of the finishing touches on getting the class up and running. Instructor training is getting squared away, the student cohort is getting finalized, and the excitement is real. Stay tuned here, and check your email inboxes, because before you know it, things will be off and running.

The Washington Alpine Club's Basic Climbing Class offers a basic but comprehensive introduction to the technical mountaineering skills required to travel safely over snowfields, glaciers, and high-angle rock. The class size is small to preserve a high instructor-to-student ratio. Students in the course are exposed to the full range of climbing skills, first in a classroom setting, and then in the mountains.

The class runs from early March through end of June, and costs $655 (this includes course materials, such as books). Students are responsible for additional costs, including the gear required for the class. See the complete gear list here. Most Tuesday night lectures are held in Seattle and ALL week night lectures and field trips are mandatory. Please review the class schedule carefully to ensure attendance.

We will accept applications December 1st - December 31st. You must hike Mount Si with a 30 LB pack and record the time as part of your application to be considered for this course.
