In the words of a wild thing, "Let the wild rumpus start!”

Applications for the 2020 will open December 1st!

The Washington Alpine Club's Basic Climbing Class offers a basic but comprehensive introduction to the technical mountaineering skills required to travel safely over snowfields, glaciers, and high-angle rock. The class size is small to preserve a high instructor-to-student ratio. Students in the course are exposed to the full range of climbing skills, first in a classroom setting, and then in the mountains.

The 2020 class will run from Tuesday, March 3rd through Sunday June 21st, and will cost $555 (this includes course materials, such as books). Students are responsible for additional costs, including the gear required for the class. See the complete gear list here. Most Tuesday night lectures are held in Capital Hill and both week night lectures and field trips are mandatory. Please review the class calendar carefully to ensure attendance.

We will accept applications December 1st - December 31st. You must hike Mount Si with a 30LB pack to be considered for this course. See applications for more details.
